Board of Directors Update & Virtual Conference Registration/In-Person Receptions ARCS Update Vol 9 Issue 22
November 11, 2024 | ARCS NewsBoard of Directors Update
For the second time this year I have the responsibility to deliver the sad news that a current member of the ARCS Board of Directors will be stepping down, effective immediately. Kara Vetter has been on the ARCS board since 2021 and has become one of the most valuable members of the ARCS team over the years. You may have crossed paths with Kara through her work on the ARCS Conference Committee, or the ARCS Finance Committee, or any of the seemingly endless number of ARCS projects she has been a part of.
She has been an invaluable member of our board, a fierce advocate for all ARCS members, and a friendly colleague in the collections field. ARCS cannot thank her enough for her service over the years, and we wish her nothing but the best.

ARCS, President
Task Force Creation
The ARCS President and Board of Directors have implemented two new organizational-level task forces. The first is a Bylaws Review task force. The ARCS bylaws were adopted in 2019 and have served the organization extremely well since then. This new task force will take a holistic look at the existing ARCS bylaws, and make recommendations to the ARCS Board of Directors regarding any changes, updates, or removals they think are necessary. Importantly, this taskforce will NOT be making any immediate changes to the bylaws, as any bylaws changes must be voted on and approved by all ARCS members. Rather the group will be making advisory recommendations to the Board of Directors if needed.
The second task force which has been established is the Staffing Feasibility Taskforce. ARCS currently operates as an entirely volunteer-run organization, with two major caveats. ARCS employs the services of both an Association Manager and an Association Management, Talley Management Group, to perform administrative and event management services. The Staffing Feasibility Task Force's role is to determine if the present operating structure is the correct one - from a responsibilities, funding, and member representation standpoint - or if ARCS should begin exploring a transition to an alternate staff model.
