ARCS Board of Directors Call for Nominations
The Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists (ARCS) is an international association dedicated to supporting and empowering collections professionals. ARCS is led by the Board of Directors who play a critical role in overseeing the direction of the association and advancing its mission, vision, and values.
The ARCS Nominations Committee is currently seeking collections professionals (including, but not limited to registrars, collections managers, directors of collections, curators of collections, conservators, and archivists) to fill up to five (5) positions on the Board.
ARCS Directors represent ARCS at the highest level and provide strategic leadership and direction for the entire association. Directors must be dedicated to supporting inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) within the association and the professional field. They must be able to speak and act on behalf of the membership within the association and with external partners. Directors lead or assist efforts in the following areas:
- Strategic Planning
- Partnerships
- Advocacy for the profession
- Fundraising
- Fiscal Responsibility
- ARCS Committee Support
We invite the nomination of individuals who will help lead ARCS forward, advancing the association’s strategic plan and supporting its ongoing growth. We are seeking professionals who are ready to further develop and enhance recognition of our professional field. Nominees should not only be dedicated to the field but dedicated to representing and empowering ARCS members.
Requirements, Expectations, and Time Commitments of Board Members
- Must be a member of ARCS in good-standing
- Show demonstrated leadership and project management
- Serve as Board Liaison for at least one ARCS committee
- Serve on special task forces as assigned by the ARCS President
- Represent ARCS at conferences, events, and related programming
- Be committed to the ARCS Strategic Plan and ARCS IDEA Statement
- Attend ARCS related meetings and events (see Time Commitment)
- Serve two-year term beginning in July 1, 2025 with ability to renew term in 2027 and 2029
- Allocate at least three – five hours weekly on ARCS-related tasks
- Attend monthly 1.5 hour virtual board meetings
- Attend one – two in-person board meetings annually
- Attend committee or task force meetings as assigned board liaison
- Participate in other required meetings or trainings
- Attend local ARCS sponsored events
