ARCS welcomed registrars, collections specialists, and all those who work within our field to Montréal, Quebec, Canada for educational sessions, networking events, and a chance to meet colleagues from around the world.
Conference Land Acknowledgement
The Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists acknowledges that we are meeting on the unceded and unsurrendered lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation, who have been the custodians of these lands and waters since time immemorial. Tiohtià:ke, also known as Montréal, has a long history as a gathering place for many First Nations. We invite you to not only honor the ancestral stewards of this land but to celebrate their past, present, and future by taking the time to learn more about these communities and their histories.
Registrars and Collections Specialists fulfill critical roles within the larger museum field, making it our responsibility to educate, to hold ourselves accountable, and to challenge the colonial ideas of stewardship within the field and beyond. ARCS supports these actions and as we gather for the 2023 ARCS Conference, take every opportunity to learn and reflect on repatriation, reconciliation, and decolonial efforts within your own institutions as well as in your personal practices.
