Professional Experience
Heidi S. Raatz, MLIS, established and works on a consulting basis through Collections Management Solutions LLC, following over thirty years experience in collections and rights management at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA). Throughout her years at MIA, she held a successive series of positions reflective of her professional growth and adaptability to profound changes in cultural heritage documentation, formats, and practices.
In addition to the Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists (ARCS), Heidi is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Visual Resources Association (VRA), Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA), Museum Computer Network (MCN), Open GLAM, and others. The majority of her professional activities have been associated with the Visual Resources Association, an international organization focused on image management, serving as Vice President for Conference Program (2009-2011) and on a wide variety of committees as a member and/or co-chair (Data Standards Committee, Nominating Committee, Education Committee, Travel Awards Committee, Development Committee, Constitution and Bylaws Review Task Force).
Heidi continues to be active in the cultural heritage sector with recent webinar presentations for VRA and Open GLAM focused on issues of rights data management and ethical practice in collecting, cataloging, and expressing artist identity data for discovery and access.
